The STCW Convention 1978, as amended and the Maritime Labour Convention require that all seafarers serving on or intending to serve on board a vessel must have a valid medical certificate of fitness, certifying that the Seafarer is fit for sea going service.
Seafarers intending to serve aboard Cook Islands flagged vessels must have an approved Medical Practitioner conduct the medical examination, complete and issue the Cook Islands certificate of medical fitness. Maritime Cook Islands Administrator of the Cook Islands ships registry, operates as an open registry with its main office in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, with additional offices in Italy and Monaco.
Bunker/Wrecks/CLC Services
There is no legal or other impediment to any P&I Club / Insurer offering cover to Cook Islands flagged vessels.
