Maritime Cook Islands (MCI) was recently represented at the Thailand International Boat Show 2025 by its Singapore agent, Hilda Loe. Held for the first time at Phuket Yacht Haven from January 9–12, the new venue, boasting 320 berths and the capacity to accommodate superyachts up to 100 meters, marked a significant shift from previous years.
The event was officially opened by Thailand’s Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, with support from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau. While an attendance of 6,000 was anticipated, early-day crowds were smaller than expected, with visitor numbers increasing over the weekend.
A total of 54 boats were showcased, including four proudly flying the Cook Islands flag. Featured yachts included models from Beneteau, Aquila, Sanlorenzo, Princess Yachts, Sunseeker, Axopar, Riviera, Absolute, and more. While some exhibitors adjusted their displays compared to previous years, the event continued to highlight a diverse and impressive range of vessels.
Hilda and her team engaged with owners, captains, brokers, and agents, distributing merchandise packages and providing updates on MCI’s new pricing structure, CDD requirements, and process changes. Despite some challenges with the venue’s dispersed layout and limited visitor facilities, the event served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen industry relationships and showcase MCI’s services to key stakeholders.
