Maritime Cook Islands Joins Global Leaders at 2025 Captains of Industry Roundtable

AUSTRALIA – 12 NOVEMBER 2025 – On November 11, Ocean magazine hosted the exclusive 2025 Captains of Industry Roundtable at the Australian National Maritime Museum. This invitation-only forum convened 71 Yacht Owners, Captains, and industry professionals to discuss the future of the superyacht sector. Katrina Matheson, Head of Marketing and Media at Maritime Cook Islands, attended the event accompanied by her guest, Captain Jack Donovan of the superyacht Kimojo.

“Events like this are essential for aligning flag state administration with the practical realities faced by captains,” Matheson noted. “Collaborating at this level ensures we remain aligned with the needs of international vessels, especially those charting courses through the South Pacific.”

The event structure prioritised candid dialogue over formal presentations, addressing a comprehensive range of topics. Discussions on technology and sustainability focused on powering towards a Net-Zero future with HVO and alternative fuels, alongside a debate on the intelligence of AI integration in superyachts. Operational sessions covered navigating risk in insurance and security, as well as balancing ownership and opportunity through the “Build to Charter” model and AMSA overview. The forum also explored the human element of the industry, tackling the “Crew Conundrum,” promoting inclusiveness and women in leadership, and examining how to preserve culture alongside destination discovery. The Roundtable served as a unique convergence of industry leaders, fostering the meaningful connection and insight required to address the defining issues of luxury yachting.

The evening concluded with the Compass Dinner at Ripples Waterfront, overlooking Darling Harbour and the Maritime Museum. Over 80 guests attended the evening function, where Ms. Buckman welcomed the group and emphasized the value of continuing the day’s discussions in a collaborative social setting.
