The recent Sydney Charter Show and Australian Superyacht Conference in February 2026 marked a significant milestone for the regional maritime industry. By maintaining a high-profile presence at these premier events, Maritime Cook Islands (MCI) ensures that shipowners and operators benefit from streamlined administrative processes and expert regulatory guidance, directly enhancing the commercial viability and global reputation of their vessels in the competitive South Pacific market.
The Sydney Charter Show concluded at Jones Bay Superyacht Marina, providing a dedicated platform for the evaluation of Australia’s premier charter fleet. Katrina Matheson, Marketing Manager for MCI, attended the two-day showcase to engage with industry stakeholders and review the operational standards of the regional fleet.
A focal point of the show was the 54m M/Y Mischief, the largest vessel in attendance, which operates under the Cook Islands flag. The vessel’s presence highlighted the registry’s role in supporting large-scale charter operations through established compliance and maritime excellence. By flying the Cook Islands flag, vessels like Mischief benefit from a registry that understands the nuances of large-scale commercial chartering, offering owners a balance of prestige and practical functionality.
Reflecting on the engagement at the show, Matheson stated:
“It was productive to meet with the captains, brokers, and owners targeting the South Pacific charter market. This environment allowed for detailed discussions regarding international regulations, maritime compliance, and the specific operational benefits of the Cook Islands registry.”
Following the showcase, the Australian Superyacht Conference convened in Sydney on Tuesday, 24 February 2026. Marking the first time the event has been held in this location, the conference reached its capacity of 100 delegates, including international attendees from across Europe and Asia.
A central component of the program was a presentation regarding Flag State Registration delivered by Eleanor Keukura Roi, Director of Business Development and Marketing at MCI. Roi’s session focused on global market development and industry engagement, utilizing her background in flag State administration to highlight how the registry supports client growth.
The conference sessions provided a platform for stakeholders to examine the commercial and regulatory factors affecting the Australian market. By integrating vessel operators and service providers in a single forum, the event facilitated an exchange on maritime governance and domestic growth. For the client, this reinforces that MCI is not just a service provider, but a strategic partner dedicated to the long-term success and compliance of their fleet.
