PRESS RELEASE
MARITIME COOK ISLANDS ISSUES OFFICIAL CLARIFICATION ON REGISTRATION STATUS OF VESSEL MIN HANG
RAROTONGA, COOK ISLANDS – Maritime Cook Islands (MCI), the Cook Islands Ship Registry, is issuing a formal clarification regarding inaccurate reporting concerning the vessel Min Hang (IMO: 9257137). Contrary to recent reports, the Min Hang is no longer registered with the Cook Islands. The Registrar of Ships formally cancelled the vessel’s registration on 13 December 2024.
MCI takes the integrity of its registry and international compliance seriously. We encourage all media outlets to verify flag status using authoritative sources, such as the Flag Administration (via an official Registry Transcript), IMO GISIS records, or the vessel’s statutory certification body. Commercial AIS-tracking websites are not a reliable source of legal registry status.
To ensure access to verified information, MCI provides an Online Vessel Verification Portal. This is the definitive source to confirm the status of any vessel flying the Cook Islands flag. All parties should utilise this tool or contact the registry for an official Transcript of Registry before relying on external tracking data.
