The STCW Convention 1978, as amended and the Maritime Labour Convention require that all seafarers serving on or intending to serve on board a vessel must have a valid medical certificate of fitness, certifying that the Seafarer is fit for sea going service.
Seafarers intending to serve aboard Cook Islands flagged vessels must have an approved Medical Practitioner conduct the medical examination, complete and issue the Cook Islands certificate of medical fitness.
