Maritime Cook Islands Participates in the Inaugural Asia Pacific Superyacht Summit in Hong Kong
Maritime Cook Islands (MCI) took part in the inaugural Asia Pacific Superyacht Summit, held by Superyacht Times in Hong Kong from June 5-6, 2024, as a Gold Sponsor. Executive Director Glenn Armstrong, Head of Marketing and Media Katrina Matheson, and Deputy Registrar Jens-Erik Olsen represented MCI at the event. They actively engaged with maritime industry professionals, fostering connections and exchanging insights on the future of the superyacht industry in the Asia Pacific region.
During a panel discussion, Glenn Armstrong addressed questions about the benefits of registering yachts with MCI. He highlighted MCI’s customer-focused approach, emphasising the registry’s dedication to solving problems and ensuring compliance with international standards. Glenn explained that MCI registers both private and commercial yachts. He pointed out that MCI’s global reach reflects its network of agents.
When asked about MCI’s position in the market compared to other well-known registries, Glenn shared that MCI has steadily grown and now boasts nearly 700 yachts. He explained that MCI works closely with international agents to expand its business and is rapidly gaining momentum in the yacht industry. Glenn noted that MCI is becoming a significant player, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region, positioning itself as a strong contender and a preferred foreign flag choice to Australia and Singapore in the yachting industry.
MCI had the honour of sponsoring the Asia Pacific Superyacht Association cocktail event, where Jens-Erik Olsen was introduced as the Deputy Registrar in Hong Kong. The event saw attendance from captains and owners of Cook Islands-flagged vessels, further solidifying MCI’s presence in the industry. The summit provided an excellent platform for MCI to showcase its commitment to excellence in yacht registration and to strengthen its network within the maritime community.
